First Rate to Host Arlington Youth "Servant Leader" Award Luncheon

Arlington, TX – April 12, 2011 – On April 14, the Arlington Alliance for Youth’s Extra Mile awards will be announced at the seventh annual First Rate Living Luncheon. The awards recognize adults who embody “Servant Leadership” in striving to help Arlington youth. First Rate, a leading provider of performance measurement solutions to the financial services industry, will host the event at the Diamond Club of the Ballpark in Arlington. FirstRateLivingLogo

“As we begin a third decade in Arlington, First Rate has a deeply vested interest in the city’s future,” says First Rate’s Chaplain, Judson I. Stone. “Making a difference in that future requires making a difference in the lives of young people now. The Extra Mile awards honor those who are doing just that.”

The awards also help focus attention on the “youth challenge” so many communities face today. To meet this challenge, adults are needed who can be servant leaders – focusing first on service to others and building community support – and go the Extra Mile to help young people develop and mature. Nominations can be made by organizations such as schools, governmental and faith-based non-profits and athletic groups. All approved nominees are recognized at the luncheon for their service to the community.

More than 125 Arlington leaders attended last year’s event. This year the award will be presented to six adults, three from the professional service sphere and three from the volunteer sphere. Each receives a trophy as well as a $1,200 donation in their honor from First Rate to the IRS-approved non-profit of their choice. Six runners-up will receive a $400 donation.

“Nominees for the Extra Mile awards invest their own lives in the care and development of Arlington’s youth,” says Stone. “They deserve our recognition and appreciation and First Rate is proud to help provide that through the First Rate Living Luncheon.”
